Albemarle County Will Put Ranked Choice Voting Forward for Future Discussion

At the November 16th Board of Supervisors meeting, Albemarle County Director of Elections Lauren Eddy presented Implementation & Cost Considerations for Adopting Ranked Choice Voting. Here is the link to view the meeting. Director Eddy begins speaking at 1 hour and 38 minutes.

The Board seems to be in consensus that "RCV is definitely something we want to continue to explore... And it will be put forward for future discussion." One Supervisor expressed hope that RCV could attract more candidates in districts that have been less competitive.

They noted that there are still some technical and legal details to be worked out at the State Election Department, with guidance documents coming soon to localities.
