All Hands on Deck for Ranked Choice Voting

This week, all of the bills that we are tracking will be heard in subcommittee or full committee. There will be several pivotal moments that will determine the fate of our favored bills (HB 1103 / SB 892, HB506). The bills that we are supporting are optional for localities to implement and non-controversial. We do not want the bills that we support to be conflated with any other proposed comprehensive movement or reforms that may be on the agendas.

If you intend on attending any hearing, it has been requested by a RCV bill sponsor, that you simply state that you support the bill and where you are from. No need to identify any organizations of which you may be a member or repeat talking points. The strategy is that the sponsors and expert witnesses will present the bills in a way that is convincing to committee members and citizens will be there to show support.

To move the bogged down committees along, we request citizens to be brief and concise. For example, simply say "My name is __________, I am from ________, and I am here in support of HB 1103 / SB 892 / HB 506." You may notify the bill sponsors via email in advance that you are attending and where you will be traveling from, so that they know to acknowledge you in the committee meetings Delegate Hudson Delegate Hope Senator Ebbin
