Third Reading; House to Vote on Bills Proposing Ranked Choice Voting Pilots
Updated: Feb 7, 2020
Bills that we are tracking and support, HB 506 and HB 1103, move forward to be voted on at Third Reading on the House floor TODAY (Feb. 6)!
There was very little discussion on the floor yesterday for Second Reading. Delegate Hope explained his Arlington-specific bill and gave a general overview of how ranked choice voting works. The only comment was from Delegate Buddy Fowler, in line with his tradition of using humor on the floor, "I think this is a great idea...could we try it out in Iowa first?"
When it was time for reading HB 1103, Delegate Hudson noted that Delegate Hope's description of ranked choice voting was sufficient and the bill moved on to be heard for a Third Reading.
